Thirty nursing mothers in the Upper West Region beamed with smiles when Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana handed over hampers containing assorted items to them on 26 December 2025. The gesture by the telecommunication giant forms part of its annual celebration of babies born on Christmas Day at health facilities.

Officials of MTN presented ten hampers to nursing mothers at the Reproductive Unit and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward of the Upper West Regional Hospital, and twenty at the Jirapa Municipal Hospital. Dubbed “Spreading Y’ello Cheer to Our Christmas Babies,” the company said Christmas is not just about decorations and festivities but also about sharing love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.

For fourteen years, “we have kept one of our heartwarming traditions alive – celebrating babies born on Christmas Day and the amazing mothers who welcome them into the world,” a statement by MTN said.

Among the nursing mothers who received the hampers at the Upper West Regional Hospital were Madam Mavis Abepuoring, who delivered a baby girl, and Madam Juliana Nagor, 35, who delivered twins — a male and a female — on December 25, 2025. They expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the kind gesture, noting that the presentation of the assorted items will alleviate their burden. They commended MTN for its consistency in going to the aid of nursing mothers on Boxing Day every year after delivery, urging the company to continue the gesture for more deprived women to benefit.

MTN is scheduled to distribute 700 hampers to nursing mothers at selected hospitals nationwide to celebrate mothers and their new babies as part of “Spreading Y’ello Cheer to Our Christmas Babies.”
