Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held discussions with a delegation from York University at her office, focusing on expanding academic collaboration and strengthening institutional ties between Ghanaian and international universities.

The meeting centred on deepening cooperation in higher education, with both parties exploring opportunities for academic exchanges, joint research and student engagement programmes.

The York University delegation highlighted the institution’s growing focus on Africa, citing the continent’s youthful population and increasing potential for innovation-driven partnerships and knowledge sharing.

Discussions also touched on building sustainable academic linkages to support experiential learning and broaden access to global educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang, an alumna of York University, described the engagement as particularly meaningful and emphasised the importance of international exposure and learning experiences beyond the classroom.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for young people, strengthen educational cooperation and promote cross-border collaboration.

The meeting ended with both sides underscoring the importance of strategic educational partnerships in building global academic networks and preparing the next generation for an increasingly interconnected world.
