The World Assemblies of God Fellowship has officially launched the 2026 World Assemblies of God Congress (WAGC) in Accra, marking the beginning of preparations for one of the largest global gatherings of Pentecostal Christians. The launch ceremony, held in Accra, brought together clergy, national church leaders, diplomats, and members of the Christian community.

The upcoming congress—expected to draw about ten thousand delegates around the word countries—will position Ghana as a central hub for international Christian engagement, worship, leadership training, and missions mobilization. The event also marks the first time the congress will be hosted in Africa.

The World Assemblies of God Congress (WAGC) is a global gathering of the Assemblies of God (AG) family, held periodically to unite pastors, missionaries, leaders, and members from AG fellowships around the world. It serves as a platform for fellowship, prayer, worship, missions mobilization, leadership training, and collective vision casting.

The Congress traces its roots to the worldwide growth of the Assemblies of God, a Pentecostal denomination founded in 1914 in the United States and now one of the largest Pentecostal movements globally. As the AG expanded across continents, the need arose for an international forum where the global church could meet, strengthen unity, and coordinate mission efforts.

The Congress is organized under the World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), which officially formed in 1989 to foster global collaboration among national AG bodies.

Today, WAGC continues to play a vital role in strengthening worldwide Pentecostal unity, encouraging believers, and advancing the shared mission of spreading the gospel to all nations.Ghana has become the first African country to host the 10th edition of the Congress will be held from October 14- 16,2026.

Speaking at the launch, Rev. Dominic Yeo, Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, commended Ghana for its spiritual vibrancy, hospitality, and stable leadership within the global church family.

He emphasized that the congress will be a platform to empower the next generation of Christian leaders.

“Ghana is a nation with a strong Christian foundation and an Assemblies of God church that continues to grow dynamically. Hosting the congress here is both strategic and symbolic,” Rev. Yeo said. “We are gathering the world to inspire unity, strengthen missions, and equip believers for the future.”

The theme for the congress, “Gathering the Nations for Global Harvest,” underscores the fellowship’s renewed focus on evangelism, discipleship, and community transformation.

Ghana’s national leadership of the Assemblies of God expressed confidence that the congress will not only strengthen the church but also boost the country’s tourism, hospitality, and creative sectors.

Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, noted that preparations are well underway to ensure the nation delivers a world-class event.
