The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has defended its decision to recruit Senior High School graduates to assist in Community Health-based Planning Services (CHPS) compounds.
The Public Relations Officer, Awal Mohammed, said the module is not new and has existed since 2016.
Speaking on GBC’s ‘Behind the News’, Mr Awal said it has engaged the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifery Association and has assured them that the initiative will not create any competitions.
YEA last week announced that it was rolling out a program to train over 5,000 senior high school graduates across the country to assist nurses stationed at CHPS compounds by the end of August.
The Association however argues that there are over 10,000 nurses belonging to 2019, 2020 and 2021 batches awaiting employment.
