The youth have been urged to undergo skills training at vocational institutions, as a viable alternative to sustainable livelihood.

Speaking at the 5th graduation ceremony of Overcomers Catering Services and Training School, Director of the school, Monica Mensah said many youths are not ready to learn formal trade, which she said has been taken over by foreign artisans.

She said the main aim of the institute is to promote and provide vocational skills, as well as entrepreneurship training for the youth to ensure sustainable development in the communities.

Director of Overcomers Catering Services and Training School, Mrs. Monica Mensah underscored the importance of education in the country’s economy.

She decried the rising preference for white colour jobs in Ghana, a development which she regrettably said undermines vocational education in the country. She urged the graduates to make good use of the skills acquired for the benefit of society.

Mrs. Mensah said people who have acquired vocational skills should endeavor to work to create employment for themselves and others in their communities. The Director, while congratulating the graduates urged them to apply their acquired skills to make a living.

The Kaneshie District pastor of the Greater Accra West Assemblies of God, Reverend Blessing Mensah said parents have to be blamed in the surge in social vices among the youths.
