The Ghanaian Times is happy the Ghana Medical Association has joined calls for the suspension of the mass registration exercise by the National Identification Authority in the wake of COVID-19. This is for the general safety of Ghanaians, particularly when there have been media reports of the inability of NIA staff to control the number of people to be registered at a particular time. The paper notes that though the Authority said it had put in place measures to improve hygiene and manage crowds at the centres, crowd control is a problem for Ghanaians. It believes this is not the time to take things for granted in managing the pandemic thus the country must not leave issues to chance. The Times therefore urges the National Identification Authority to reconsider its registration exercise in the national interest until the country has a full grip on the disease.

The Daily Graphic is worried about the increasing ill activities like dumping of refuse, indiscriminate siting of structures and robbery on the Tema motorway. It said the motorway, which has been a pride of the country, has become a dark stretch with no street lights on major portions. The paper also notes the potholes and bumps on the road and the insanitary activity of people easing themselves along the motorway. It is also concerned with the way some drivers dangerously join and exit the highway through unapproved routes. The paper therefore urges the police to intensify patrols along the motorway to arrest the situation.
