The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana) has congratulated rising para athletics star, Hayford Addai, for winning bronze in the men’s 400 meters at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Pro in Dubai.
The young prodigy delivered an impressive performance at his first international championship appearance, securing the medal in the men’s T47 400 metres at the 2026 Dubai World Para Athletics (WPA) Grand Prix.
The Konongo Senior High School student clocked a remarkable time of 52.42 seconds, earning Ghana a podium finish in a highly competitive field. The achievement marks a significant milestone in Hayford’s young athletic career, especially as it comes just days after receiving his international classification on 6th February 2026.
In a statement released by the NPC-Ghana, Hayford was commended for his performance and urged to continue to raise the country’s flag high.
Speaking after the race, Hayford expressed his gratitude to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) for their unwavering support and collaboration in helping him reach this stage of his athletic journey.
“I am very grateful to NPC Ghana and the Ghana Olympic Committee for their support and for believing in me. This achievement is just the beginning,” he said.
Following his success in the 400 metres, Hayford has now set his sights on his favorite event — the 100 metres, which serves as a qualifying race for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. With his confidence boosted by his podium finish in Dubai, he remains focused and determined to continue raising Ghana’s flag high.
