The Daily Graphic urges the public to keep the markets clean since unclean markets affects the quality of food sold for consumption. It describes the situation where foodstuff and vegetables are sold close to chocked gutters and refuse dumps in places such as Agbogloshie, Kaneshie and Kokomba markets, as appalling. The Graphic finds it puzzling how these markets remain unclean when they have managers who are to ensure daily toll collection from sellers for their maintenance. The paper calls on the authorities to avoid making toll collection their preoccupation at the expense of the health of the people.
The Ghanaian Times commends the Ghana Aids Commission for setting up a fund to support children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. According to the paper, the orphans, numbering over two hundred and twenty six thousand require psychological and socio- economic support from government. It condemns stigmatisation of orphans which tends to stagnate their mental development.
