The Daily Graphic lauds government’s move to pull vehicle makers into the country, following the footsteps of South Africa, which has attracted seven vehicle manufacturers, including Nissan and Toyota, with tax incentives. The Graphic is excited about some of the benefits to be derived from the setting up of the assembly plants which will include; creation of jobs for Ghanaians, a reduction in the importation of second hand vehicles and the placement of Ghana on the global automotive map. The Graphic notes that these factors alone are not enough to propel the country to the pinnacle of the automotive industry in Africa, but needs to ensure proper and functioning regulatory systems or risk losing the expected gains.

The Ghanaian Times commends government for the installation of the earthquake guard device at Weija, in the Greater Accra Region. The equipment is the first of its kind in the country and uses a software server to provide early signals of impending disasters. The paper suggests that there must be awareness creation amongst residents of earthquake prone areas where the devices have been installed so that when warnings of disasters are circulated the people could respond quickly. The Times is happy that finally technology is being deployed to solve problems and urges stakeholders to keep abreast of new developments to consolidate efforts being made.
