The Accra Metropolitan Assembly, (AMA), is accused of illegally withdrawing one point one million cedis from the Bank of Ghana account belonging to the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly.

This is contained in the 2018 Auditor General’s report for the year ending 2018.

The Auditor General has therefore directed authorities of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly to take all the necessary steps to retrieve the said amount.

The report also revealed that 12 assemblies including the AMA defaulted in submitting their financial statements to the audit team for audit.

The Auditor General further raised issues on how Internally Generated Funds are used without proper documentation.

The total IGF by the 240 assemblies amounted to about 300 million cedis. However the assemblies expenditure which is  about one billion  Ghana cedis  fell short of their total income.

The Auditor General also cited Mr Jiah Borsu Jiatus a Secretary at the Tumu Urban Council for collecting revenue of forty thousand and 56 belonging to the assembly but accounted for only 9 thousand 720 cedis  leaving an outstanding amount of 30 thousand 336 cedis.

The Auditor General has therefore directed the Coordinating Director and Financial officer to retrieve the said amount.
