Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has predicted that, the Black Stars are aiming to match their legendary 2010 World Cup quarter-final run in the upcoming tournament across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, Ghana enters the fray with renewed determination after a group-stage exit in Qatar 2022.
Asante Twum’s bold optimism underscores the team’s resolve to surpass past disappointments and make a deep impact next year.
In a recent interview on Akoma FM, Asante Twum outlined the Black Stars’ clear ambitions: advance from the group stage and push toward the quarter-finals or beyond.
“Our target is to qualify from the group stage and be competitive. We want to fight, we have the quality, and we believe we can match our quarter-final appearance and possibly go even further,” he declared.
This vision builds on Ghana’s return to the global stage in 2022 after skipping 2018, signaling a trajectory of steady improvement.
Bolstering these hopes, the GFA has fortified the technical team since Qatar and is actively pursuing new squad additions requested by head coach Otto Addo.
While names remain under wraps due to ongoing club contracts, Asante Twum assured supporters that deals are progressing.
“The coach has requested some new additions, and the FA is currently working on them. However, the individuals are under contract, making it difficult to disclose at this time,” he explained.
Logistical preparations are also advancing swiftly. The Black Stars’ camping base and full arrangements will drop in the first week of February, followed by a provisional squad in April and the final 26-man roster by June 1.
These timelines set the stage for Ghana’s campaign opener against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, a clash with England in Boston, and a group finale versus Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
