Political analyst and Private legal practitioner, Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers has stated that, he believes Dr. Bryan Acheampong should consider a ministerial position instead of running for President in 2028. He questioned Acheampong’s popularity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and suggests he’s lost his political touch.
“His popularity in his own party is questionable, at a time he was seen as a coup maker in his own party. He has lost his political grace so if I were him, I would rather support one of the candidates aspiring than contesting myself”, Brako-Powers said.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the MP for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, is currently contesting the NPP’s 2028 presidential primaries happening today, January 31.
Brako-Powers, however, is of the opinion he’d be better suited as a minister, citing concerns about his divisive influence within the party some time back.
Acheampong’s campaign focuses on rebuilding party unity, strengthening discipline, and driving national transformation. He’s emphasized his experience in governance, security, and economic development, and pledged to expand opportunities for young people in entrepreneurship and public service.
