Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Prof. Isaac Boadi has questioned the pace and direction of investigations into the National Buffer Stock Company case, following the re-arrest of the former CEO, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni.
“Are our investigators under a tight timeline to deliver results because I don’t get the back and forth,” Prof. Boadi asked.
The former Chief Executive Officer of the National Buffer Stock Company and his wife were re-arrested as part of ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities at the state agency. The re-arrest came after the pair had earlier been detained and released pending further inquiries.
Prof. Boadi said on Current Agenda today that, the repeated detention and release cycle creates uncertainty about the investigation’s progress and undermines public confidence. He noted that while due process must be followed, prolonged back-and-forth actions make it unclear whether investigators have sufficient evidence or are working under pressure to meet deadlines.
He also urged law enforcement agencies to be more transparent about the status of high-profile cases and to provide timelines for conclusion where possible.
“When cases keep going back and forth without clear outcomes, it raises questions about the strength of the evidence and the efficiency of the process,” he said.
Prof. Boadi added that timely and conclusive investigations are important for accountability, deterrence, and for maintaining trust in public institutions. He also mentioned that, the public expects investigations to be thorough but also timely, and that delays or reversals without explanation fuel speculation and erode confidence in the justice process.
The National Buffer Stock Company has been under investigation over procurement and contract management concerns. The case is being handled by investigative agencies as part of broader efforts to address alleged financial mismanagement in state institutions.
