The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has denied reports circulating about an impending increase in the price of cement.
Management of the Standards Authority described the report as false.
The denial was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Director-General of the GSA, Professor George Agyei.
The authority, in the said statement, clarified that claims of a GH¢6 increment in the price of cement, expected to take effect on Monday, January 19, 2026, are untrue.
According to the GSA, the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the Authority, has not issued any directive approving or announcing a price increase.
“The notice circulating about a ¢6 price increment of cement on Monday, 19th January, 2026, is false,” a portion of the statement read.
The Authority has, however, cautioned the public to be wary of misinformation and urged consumers, businesses, and other stakeholders to verify information through official GSA communication channels before acting on it.
