Panelists on GBC’s Current Affairs programme FOCUS have asserted that poor communication on the E-Levy Policy has led to the rejection by Ghanaians leading to increased panic withdrawals.
The Panellists directed that the government focus more on rather engaging all stakeholders on the need for the E-Levy. A Lecturer and Lawyer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Zakaria Tanko Musah, pointed out that the government should have first reached a consensus from key stakeholders before introducing the Bill.
Mr. Zakaria Manko Musah urged the government to use trusted individuals who have no political colouring and affiliation to lead an intensified education on the E-Levy.
A Financial Analyst, with Trust Consult, Charles Mensah suggested the involvement of Mobile Money Operators in the collection of the E-levy for convenience.
The General Secretary of the Mobile Money Association of Ghana, Evans Otumfuo also insisted that the government goes back to the basics and intensify education on the E-Levy.
