The agreement prioritises private sector development, infrastructure expansion, and youth skills training, with total investment deals valued at up to £215 million, expected to support Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.

Maritime Infrastructure Investment – £101 Million

A major component of the partnership is a £101 million UK-backed project to establish the Gulf of Guinea’s first commercial-scale ship repair and dry-docking facility. The Takoradi Floating Dock Project is expected to create up to 430 direct jobs, with 30 per cent reserved for women, and position Ghana as a leading maritime hub in the region.

Climate and Environmental Projects – £85 Million & £9 Million

The partnership also includes climate-focused investments comprising an £85 million reforestation fund and a further £9 million forest restoration project in the Oti Region. These initiatives are expected to generate employment while strengthening environmental sustainability.

Technology and Innovation – £6 Million

In the technology sector, a £6 million programme will support the implementation of Ghana’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy and enhance collaboration in science and technology across universities in both countries.

Health and Education Cooperation – £4 Million
