High Expectations as Finance Minister presents Mid Year Budget review to Parliament

Ahead of Thursday’s mid-year budget review, Financial experts have urged government not to consider increasing taxes to over burden the people.

Speaking on our Current Affairs programme “Focus,” panelists noted that Ghanaians are going through hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They asked for an expansion of stimulus interventions to help revive the economy.

Dr. Mensah also brought up the issue of increasing taxes for companies that made profits during the pandemic.

Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Economists Ghana, Dr. Ebenezer Ashley expressed worry about the depreciation of the cedi, when other countries affected by the pandemic are not performing badly.

MP for Bia East and Member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Richard Acheampong called for a critical look at the disbursement of funds for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises by the National Board for Small Scale Industries, NBSSI.
