A new Business–Government Compact has been introduced to accelerate Ghana’s economic transformation. Dubbed the CEO–Government Compact 2026, the framework seeks to deepen collaboration between the public and private sectors and drive economic transformation through measurable action and enhanced accountability.
President John Dramani Mahama announced the initiative at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit, describing it as a shift from periodic dialogue to a structured partnership focused on implementation, productivity, and results.
He said Ghana’s development agenda must move beyond speeches and conferences into concrete commitments that translate into investment, industrial growth, exports, and jobs.

“Let today’s summit not end as another successful event without measurable follow-ups. The next steps must be structured,” the President said.
President Mahama explained that the compact is designed to strengthen trust and coordination between government and business, ensuring that agreed reforms are implemented and monitored over time.
According to him, the framework will promote accountability, innovation, competitiveness, and productivity as key pillars of Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.
He stressed that both government and the private sector have shared responsibilities in achieving the country’s development goals, noting that reforms must be matched by investment and a strong response from enterprise.
The President further called on CEOs and industry leaders to support the initiative by increasing investment, improving productivity, and creating decent jobs for Ghanaians.

He emphasised that the success of the compact will be judged not by its launch, but by its impact on real economic outcomes such as expanded production, stronger exports, and improved livelihoods.
The Founder and Chief Executive of the Ghana CEO Summit, Mr. Ernest De-Graft Egyir, said the initiative was conceived by President Mahama, who tasked him to develop a structured framework for its implementation.
The Ghana CEO Summit brought together policymakers, business leaders, and development partners to discuss strategies for accelerating Ghana’s economic transformation through reforms, technology, and industrialisation.
