MOFA rolls out new scheme aimed at boosting agriculture

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, has rolled out a new scheme aimed at increasing agricultural production, to boost Ghana’s economy, with support from the Canadian International Development Agency.

The programme under the theme, “Technical Education Development for Modernising Agriculture”, which began this year, is being implemented by other research institutions including the Universities of Saskatchewan and Missouri in US.

This was announced by the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Director of Agriculture, Kwaku Baah at a workshop in Sefwi Wiawso, the Western North Regional capital.

About 40 agricultural officers comprising Extension Agents, National Service Personnel, Attachment Students, NABCO personnel and Field Officers are undergoing training at Sefwi Wiawso.

Participants were taken through topics such as “Communication for Innovation, Change to Scientific Methods of Farming, Behavioral Change, Adult As Learners and Environmental Hygiene”.

The Municipal Director of Agriculture,Kwaku Baah, opened the workshop.
