The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB), has called for the withdrawal of the 5 percent banking sector clean-up Levy to be imposed on Banks.

According to the Association, the Levy is not only counterproductive but will cripple and make them unattractive to investors.

Chief Executive of the Association, John Awuah tells GBC’s Business News that it is unclear for Banks to pay for a national crisis that every industry must pay for, describing the move as the least creative.

He said he expects government to cushion banks in order to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
