The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), says it will punish any individual or company who smuggles goods into the market.
At a familiarization tour of the Abossey-Okai Spare Parts area in Accra, the Commissioner General of the GRA, Emmanuel Kofi Nti emphasized that prior to the Vice President’s pronouncement on the fifty percent benchmark reduction value on import duties, the GRA sought to ensure compliance and competitiveness in the markets.
He warned the public against indulging in illegal activities as anybody found culpable will be dealt with accordingly.
Mr. Nti urged traders to reduce the prices of their goods to enable it to reflect the implementation of the new directive on import duties by the Vice President.
In a related development, the Commissioner of the Customs Division at GRA, Isaac Crentsil has debunked social media reports indicating the exclusion of spare parts from the recent announcement on the reduction in the benchmark values on import duties on vehicles.
