SSNIT deletes about 6,452 "Ghost Names"

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has deleted about 6,452 Pensioners from the its payroll.

This according to SSNIT, has helped saved the Trust over Gh20 million as at September , 2018.

Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang

The Director General of the SSNIT, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang who disclosed this in a brief discussion with the media at the press soaréé which was held in Accra, said the payroll has trimmed about Gh2.7 million to the benefit of the trust every month.

He said SNNIT is not issuing any new lD card but rather using social security numbers.

“SNNIT is to collect contribution from stakeholders, invest them prudently and pay benefits timely and promptly.”

To increase a benefit payment, SSNIT embarked on an exercise to identify and delete ghost names from the Trust’s payroll.
