The list of African countries qualifying automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been finalized, marking a historic moment for the continent in world football.

Following the conclusion of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) qualification campaign, nine teams have secured their places to represent Africa at the tournament set to take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States next year.

The nations set to feature on football’s biggest stage are Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, South Africa, and Cape Verde. Each team earned its spot through a competitive qualification process that showcased the growing strength and talent present across African football.

This edition of the World Cup will feature an expanded 48-nation format, providing Africa with a record number of qualified teams. The increase in slots from five to nine has created an unprecedented opportunity for African teams to advance further and have a greater influence on the tournament’s outcome.

For the continent’s football fans, this expanded representation fuels hopes for memorable performances and historic achievements. Nations like Ghana and Morocco, with rich World Cup histories, alongside emerging teams such as Cape Verde, bring excitement and diversity to the African contingent.

With the World Cup just months away, these nine teams will now focus on final preparations to compete with the world’s elite. Africa’s significant presence promises to raise the continent’s profile in global football and inspire a new generation of players and supporters.
