Police inspector interdicted, remanded over alleged robbery attack on MoMo vendor

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.

The officer was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following an intelligence-led operation.

According to a statement signed by the Head of the Command’s Public Affairs Unit, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, a search conducted at Inspector Dankwah’s residence led to the retrieval of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GH¢9,835.

The statement said the suspect was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday, May 11, 2026.

He was remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.

The Police Command said investigations into the case are ongoing.
