Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia says the Government recognizing the dire consequences of corruption took bold steps to introduce key initiatives to digitize the economy. These initiatives, he noted, will not only minimize the human interface that delays processes but also eliminate the tendency to engage in acts that will deprive the country, the needed revenue for development.

Vice-President Bawumia made these remarks at the 76th Graduation Ceremony of the Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra. He commended the Seminary for its contribution to humanity, stressing the need for concerted efforts to rekindle core values in people towards growth and development. Established in 1942, Trinity Theological Seminary has over the past 79 years offered Christian training, teaching and guidance, educated men and women for the ordained ministry and trained church workers for continuous personal and professional growth and development.

Vice President Bawumia said corruption is one of the major cankers affecting growth and development despite several initiatives to fight it over the years. This is why the government has digitized the ports and passport offices among other institutions. He said the Seminary has a key role to play in educating the masses and instilling discipline in students. He pledged the government’s commitment to leave a legacy in the Seminary with regard to improving infrastructure on campus.

Chairman of the West African Examination Council and Member of the Council of State, Professor Ato Essuman speaking on the theme Faith-based Education, Public Morality and Nation Building said, ”morality is the bedrock of all society stressing faith-based education should be transformational to imbibe issues about integrity and service in people”, he noted.

President of the Seminary Very Rev. Professor. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu bemoaned the decline in morality, noting that it is evident in the use of indecent language in national discourse especially on political issues.

He stressed the need for all to respect each other’s view.

Sixteen students received Certificates in Ministry, 55 were honored with a Bachelor of Theology, 143 received Masters of Arts in Ministry, Divinity and Theology. Doctor of Philosophy in Theology was also conferred on three students.
