Canada has pledged C$30 million to support youth competency-based training and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana, the Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Myriam Montrat, announced during a courtesy call on the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.
Minister Iddrisu praised Canada’s continued support for Ghana’s development, particularly in the education sector, and called for stronger collaboration between higher education institutions in both countries. “Strengthening technical education and laying a solid foundation for learning are key to Ghana’s educational transformation,” he said.
In response, H.E. Montrat emphasised Canada’s focus on skills development and youth empowerment, noting that the funding aims to equip Ghanaian youth with the competencies needed to compete in the global workforce.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared vision of inclusive, quality education that prepares young people for future opportunities. The partnership underscores their commitment to transforming Ghana’s education system through targeted investment in TVET and skills training.
