The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ghana, H.E. David Kabré, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
Discussions focused on expanding access to Ghana’s public tertiary institutions for Burkinabè students and enhancing English language teaching in Burkina Faso. Among the key proposals was a plan to open Ghana’s public universities and colleges to high school graduates from Burkina Faso at capped and affordable fees, aimed at promoting regional integration and academic mobility.

Ambassador David Kabré also requested Ghana’s support in improving the teaching of English in Burkina Faso through structured teacher training programmes and the deployment of qualified English teachers.
In response, Ghana’s Education Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to deepening educational collaboration with Burkina Faso. He announced plans for a Labour Exchange Programme under which Ghanaian teachers would be deployed to Burkina Faso to teach English, while Burkinabè teachers would be posted to Ghana to teach French.
According to the Education Minister, the initiative will not only strengthen language proficiency in both countries but also enhance cultural exchange and mutual understanding among students and educators.
