The Executive Director of MJ Media Foundation, Juliet Enyonam Korkor has bemoaned the little attention given to education in the rural communities especially the Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region. This, she noted will not augur well with the government rebuilding agenda since education is the back bone of development in every country.
Miss Juliet Korkor who made this observation at the maiden edition of MJ Brain Battle Quiz Competition held at Dompuase in the Amenfi East Municpality of the Western Region urged stakeholders to come on board to support educational programmes in the municipality.

The inter class quiz competition for Dompuase MA Basic School dubbed MJ Dompuase Brain Battle Quiz Competition 25 was in three categories consisting of the lower primary, upper primary and J.H.S aimed to encourage pupils to take their academic work seriously as well as help to promote educational programmes in the municipality.



The pupils were tested on subjects like Mathematics, reading, spelling and debate among others. At the end of the competition, Basic two was adjudged the winner of the lower primary category with thirteen marks while basic six won the upper primary category with forty-five marks and Basic seven won the JHS category with forty-eight marks. Winners of each category were awarded with trophies, medals, customized souvenirs, stationery and certificates of participation among others.
The Akropong ‘A’ School Improvement Support Officer, Florence Minnah commended organizers of the programme and called on stakeholders in the municipality to support such programmes which help educate and better shape the future of the pupils who are the future leaders.
The headmistress of the school, Juliana Arthur in an interview with reporters mentioned that the school faces dire challenges that need urgent attention. “We lack furniture in the school, which compels pupils to sit on the floor. During critical times, teachers have to sacrifice their chairs. The school also does not have a urinal”, she added.
A contestant of the JHS Category, Siskera Amoh Baafi commended the organizers of the programme and noted that the competition has helped to encourage them to study hard to enable them pass their exams.
