In a recent address, the Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTV) ET in Ghana, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, highlighted significant policy changes introduced by the government to promote Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
According to Dr. Asamoah, the implementation of Free TVET aims to eliminate financial obstacles, making technical education more accessible and affordable. This initiative is reshaping the landscape of education in Ghana, positioning technical skills as a preferred choice for young individuals seeking to acquire relevant expertise for the modern job market.
Moreover, he underscored the pivotal role played by the Competency-Based Training (CBT) model and the Ghana Jobs and Skills Project in revolutionising the delivery of technical education across the country. These initiatives focus on aligning training programs with the current needs of industries, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of Ghana’s rapidly changing economy.
By embracing these reforms, Ghana is striving to empower its workforce with the skills required to succeed in a competitive job market and contribute effectively to the nation’s economic growth.
