The Winneba Secondary School (WINNESEC) Old Students’ Association (WOSA) is set to hold the 14th Annual Dowuona Hammond Memorial Lectures on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Ghana–India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, Accra.

This year’s lecture, themed “Indiscipline in Senior High Schools in Ghana: Causes and Remedies,” reaffirms the association’s commitment to driving national conversations on education and discipline, while also honouring the legacy of the late Mr. Dowuona Hammond, a revered educationist and mentor.

The event will be chaired by Prof. Kwasi Yankah (WOSA ’70), former Minister of State for Tertiary Education, with Mr. Hayford Mensah Tetteh (WOSA ’93), Headmaster of Winneba Secondary School, delivering the keynote address. The Personality of Honour will be Mr. Robert M. Aheto (WOSA ’97), CEO of FWF Microfinance Ltd.

For the Old Students’ Association, the memorial lecture goes beyond an annual ritual; it reflects WOSA’s mission of shaping policy, guiding the younger generation, and strengthening the bonds between past and present students of WINNESEC. Each year, WOSA members across generations—from the 1970s to the 2000s—come together to share insights, network, and contribute to Ghana’s educational growth.

The gathering will also feature prominent media personalities, including Citizen Ato Dadzie and Nana Ama, with the Dowuona Hammond family in attendance.

The event promises to be another proud moment for WINNESEC and its old students, showcasing the enduring influence of the school’s alumni in education, leadership, and national development.
