The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has launched its 2025 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Policy, marking a major step toward modernising internal systems and strengthening digital governance across the Ministry.
The launch ceremony brought together senior leadership of the Ministry, staff, and key stakeholders from the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), as the new policy framework was officially unveiled.
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, described the ICT Policy as a significant milestone in the Ministry’s digital transformation agenda. She said the policy provides a strategic direction for integrating technology into core operations to enhance efficiency, accountability, and transparency.
Dr. Lartey noted that the policy will harmonise ICT governance and data management across all Directorates, Departments, Secretariats, and Councils under MoGCSP—ensuring standardised processes and improved coordination.
The Minister outlined key focus areas of the policy, including:
Data protection and information security
Improved digital infrastructure
Capacity building for staff
She stressed that these interventions are essential for strengthening institutional systems and ensuring that technology is effectively used to advance gender equality, child protection, and social inclusion.
Dr. Lartey encouraged staff to fully embrace digital tools and social media to amplify the Ministry’s work. She called for strong commitment to implementing the policy, adding that digital innovation is central to the Ministry’s long-term transformation.
On behalf of the Chief Director, the Director of Research, Statistics and Information Management, Dr. Sylvester Kyei-Gyamfi, expressed appreciation to stakeholders and emphasised that the policy provides a clear roadmap for system reforms and improved inter-agency collaboration. He noted that continuous sensitisation and capacity building will be required to ensure sustainability.
A detailed presentation on the ICT Policy highlighted its core objectives, guiding principles, and implementation plan, with emphasis on ICT governance, information security, and equitable access to technology across all MoGCSP structures.
The launch of the ICT Policy signals MoGCSP’s renewed commitment to leveraging technology to improve public service delivery, foster inclusion, and strengthen accountability across the Ministry.
