The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued deep condolences to Berekum Chelsea over the death of promising forward Dominic Frimpong, killed by armed robbers on the club’s bus.

Returning from a Ghana Premier League clash with FC Samartex, the team faced ambush on the Bibiani-Goaso road, where gunmen blocked the path, unleashed gunfire, and forced players into nearby bushes.

Frimpong, on loan from Aduana FC, suffered a fatal headshot amid the panic; rushed to Bibiani Government Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Several teammates nursed injuries, and the incident echoes a grim pattern plaguing league travel, previous victims include FC Savannah, Wa All Stars, Legon Cities, and AshantiGold.

“This tragic incident is not only a huge loss to Berekum Chelsea but to Ghana football as a whole,” the GFA stated, vowing constant liaison with the club, Ghana Police Service, and authorities. They demanded swift justice, underscoring the probe’s urgency.

Frimpong’s flair had sparked hope for the Blues this season; his absence leaves a void in Ghana’s talent pipeline. Fans and officials unite in grief, with tributes flooding social media.
