The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned the Israeli authorities for subjecting Ghanaian travelers to inhumane treatment at Ben Gurion International Airport, describing it as deliberate targeting and humiliating conduct.
In a press release dated December 10, 2025, from Accra, the government detailed that since December 7, seven Ghanaian nationals were affected: four members of a Parliamentary delegation attending the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference in Tel Aviv were detained without cause and released after over five hours of diplomatic intervention. The remaining three were deported on the next flight and have returned to Ghana.
Ghana highlighted its six-decade history of cordial relations with Israel, calling the actions “extremely provocative, unacceptable and inconsistent with our friendly historical relations.” It rejected Israel’s justification of non-cooperation by Ghana’s Tel Aviv embassy as “totally untenable,” affirming compliance with international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to summon Israeli Embassy officials in Accra this morning to express displeasure. The government is also considering “appropriate reciprocal action.”
