Govt urged to pay more attention to Commercial Farming

The Chairman of the National Farmers Award Winners, Davies Narh Korboe has appealed to Governments to pay more attention to commercial farming in all policies and also support small holder farmers to deal with the country’s food security problems.

This he said will enable the country to achieve the Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda and also enable commercial farmers to focus on industrialization to help boost the country’s economy.

In a speech he delivered at the 34th National Farmers day celebration at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Northern regional capital, Tamale under the theme; “Agriculture: Moving Ghana Beyond Aid”, He said “For a prosperous and result driven agriculture especially towards contributing to the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP), commercial farmers should be fully incorporated in the implementation of all government agriculture policies and alongside smaller holder farmers for efficient results  to achieve the goals  of the various agriculture initiatives.”

He also appealed to the donor agency to devote at least 60% of their building funds inn to the Agric direct credit support for Agriculturists. He added that in order to make “Ghana Beyond Aid” agenda achievable, there is the need to make agriculture the game changer, deliver farmers from poverty, make conscious effort to develop industrial players.

“Let us continue to work tirelessly and serve as role models to the youth who are yearning for credible occupation and make Ghana agriculture the envy of many” he concluded.
