The Director of System Operations at the Ghana Grid Company, GRIDco, Mark Awuah Baah, says power has  been restored to communities affected by last Monday’s destruction of  pylons.

Engineers are also on site to bring down the damaged pylon for replacement.

Speaking to Radio Ghana in Tema, Mr. Baah said in minimising cost, the Company is combing through its warehouses across the country for replacement rather than importing a new pylon from abroad.

Mr. Baah indicated that though management is seeking advice from National Security to forestall any future occurrence, Police Officers and other security agents have been stationed at various points across the country.

At about one am last Monday, GRIDCo, experienced an interruption in power transmission which was later detected to be a permanent fault due to destruction of one of its transmission pylons.

The situation affected power supply to parts of Accra, Tema and upstream including Kumasi.

The 161,000 volts network transmits power from the Tema Thermal Power, Karpower and AKSA Stations to the Volta Sub-Station, then to other parts of the country.
