A Former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, says the essence of medical service must not only be geared towards profit making but should be regarded as a community spirited activity.
He said health workers owe it a responsibility to be known by all, particularly those within the communities they live, to enable them to render the needed support to them.
Speaking at the 40th anniversary launch of a private Hospital in Tema, Professor Badu Akosa, noted that much as medical practitioners have been stifled from blowing their own horn, the Corporate Social Responsibilities to the public will make their operations much visible.
Professor Badu Akosa expressed concern that several private health facilities in recent times have become cottage industries at the verge of collapse, once the owners pass-on.
He however commended the Management of the Hospital for growth and sustainability over the years.
