The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service, Professor Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah has commended Parliament for the speedy passage of the National Ambulance Service Bill last year for the effective administration and management of emergency care services.

Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Regional Administrative Managers of the National Ambulance Service in Kumasi, Prof. Zakariah said the passage of the Bill has made the Ghana Ambulance Service more effective.

GBC’s Razak Baba reports that the Annual Conference of the Regional Administrative Managers of the National Ambulance Service in Kumasi brought together Regional and District Directors and officers from the Headquarters of the Service. The meeting provided the platform for management and staff of the Service to take stock of activities over the past year and strategize to chalk up more successes this year. The National Ambulance Service is the emergency medical service system of the country dedicated to providing out-of-hospital acute medical care and other medical transport for patients with illnesses and injuries, which prevent them from transporting themselves. The Chief Executive Officer of the Service, Professor Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah commended the Regional Administrative Managers for their swift response to national issues particularly the ”recent explosion at Appiaste”.

Prof. Ahmed Zakaria expressed concern about recent happenings on social media where bloggers put fake stories denigrating the National Ambulance Service which are not verified by some media practitioners but resort to publishing them. He urged media practitioners to work towards sustaining gains in respect to the work of paramedics instead of running down the Service.
