The Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and twenty-nine other health facilities across the country have received Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), to aid frontline health workers in managing COVID-19 cases and other infections reported at the facilities.

The importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in managing COVID-19 cases cannot be over emphasized. Currently, a number of health facilities in the country are in short supply of PPE though they are still recording Covid-19 cases.

So the presentation of the PPE to Korle-bu and other 29 hospitals across the country will go a long way to augment the shortage.

Receiving the items, the Chief Executive of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah said the fight against Covid-19 is a shared responsibility.

He entreated health personnel not to let down their guards as the country continues to record covid-19 cases. The items presented by MTN Ghana Foundation to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital included 4,000 nose masks, 3,000 face shields, 20,000 gloves and other medical consumables.

The foundation has also supported the country with 16,500 AstraZeneca vaccines.
