Business mogul Ibrahim Mahama has officially donated his former private jet to be converted as a national emergency air ambulance.

The announcement was made at the Accra International Airport shortly after Mahama took delivery of his newly acquired Bombardier Global 6500, a state-of-the-art aircraft valued at approximately $70 million.

“My old plane is now an air ambulance for every Ghanaian” he said, this reinforces his commitment to utilize private resources for public good.

The donation comes at a pivotal time for Ghana’s emergency services since yesterday, the Ghana National Ambulance Service announced plans to procure 400 new ground ambulances and 500 medical motorbikes to improve pre-hospital care nationwide. The addition of a dedicated air ambulance is expected to significantly reduce response times for critical inter-regional transfer.

The business mogul provided his private jet for the emergency forensic transfer of the helicopter crash victims to South Africa last year.
