Karpowership Ghana has announced that its Powership Osman Khan will be off the grid from today in preparation for relocation to the Western Region.

A statement signed by the Corporate Communications Specialist of the company, Sandra Amarquaye said the Powership will depart from the Tema Fishing Harbour on Thursday and berth at its new location at the Sekondi Naval Base on Friday.

It would be off the national grid for 17 days.

The relocation is in line with government’s strategic policy for the barge to utilize Natural Gas from the Western Enclave. This will save government millions of dollars annually.

Meanwhile, allaying fears of some citizens that this will cause erratic power supply, Deputy Minister of Energy, William Owuraku Aidoo said this movement will not cause any negative impact on the supply of energy.
