The Adabraka District Court has advised the family of a 25-year-old man Stanley Ahadzi who was allegedly shot to death by a Police Officer at Koans Estate gate at Kuntunse to restrain themselves in their quest for justice for the deceased.
Some family members who were present in Court for the hearing of the case were visibly angry at the alleged killer Constable Smith Gyekyi during the proceedings.
Constable Smith Gyekyi allegedly committed the offence over a disagreement with a fare.
The Prosecutor Chief Inspector Achana Apewah said on August 18 this year Constable Gyekyi was off duty and driving a private saloon car which he used for commercial purposes.
The Prosecutor said at about 3am on that day the accused allegedly picked up one Esther Owusua from Ablekuma Joma to Koans Estate area at Kuntunse Satellite.
Owusua is said to have lost direction to her destination and called the deceased on the phone to meet her at the Koans Estate gate. The deceased arrived at the place and a disagreement with the fare infuriated Constable Gyekyi who allegedly pulled his sidearm, gave a warning shot and then shot the victim to death.
According to the prosecution the accused reported himself to the Amasaman Divisional Police Station where he was arrested and detained. Chief Inspector Achana said the police is yet to conclude investigations and forward the docket to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.
The case has been adjourned to September 24.
