Ghanaian Rapper and Songwriter, Kwesi Arthur has spoken out about the negativity and resentment he believes is prevalent in the Ghanaian music industry, particularly towards successful artistes.

In an interview with Kwadwo Sheldon on Saturday, January 31, he stated that, people often try to pit artistes against each other, creating unnecessary tension and competition.

“There’s a certain type of resentment people have towards people like us. It’s a thing about us, and people tend to do that a lot. They pit people against each other like in politics, music and movies,” Kwesi Arthur said. “I think that is a very harmful thing, that we do among ourselves as a people. We have no regard for how the other person might take whatever we say.”

The Fefe ne fe hitmaker also criticized the mean and condescending behavior people exhibit on social media, suggesting that those who live in misery often want others to feel the same way. “People are very mean, negative and condescending and they tend to show that on social media and because certain people live in misery too, they want you to feel their misery,” he said.

Kwesi Arthur’s comments highlight the challenges faced by artistes in the Ghanaian music industry, where success is often met with criticism and negativity. He emphasizes the need for a more supportive and less divisive environment, where artistes can thrive without being held back by the negativity of others.

He also mentioned his new album, “Redemption Valley” a highly anticipated 8-track project that dropped on January 17, 2026. He explained that, the album is a personal exploration of resilience, growth, and self-discovery.
Addressing concerns from fans to return to the Kwesi Arthur they knew, he revealed that he has outgrown that version and has evolved.
