Lands Minister Warns Mining Companies To Respect Country's Laws

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asumah-Cheremeh has warned mining companies operating in the country to respect the country’s laws on mining.

He said the Auditor General’s report 2014 indicate that most of the mining companies in Ghana failed to pay dividends to government.

Speaking in Accra when Chirano Gold presented a cheque of 61 million Ghana cedis to government as dividends for the year 2017, Mr. Asumah-Cheremeh called on all mining companies to make it a priority to pay their dividends to government.

The Vice President of Chirano Gold mines limited Andrino Sobreira said the company has contributed to four hundred million dollars to Ghana’s economy.

He said the company has also provided numerous business opportunitiesto local contractors, with one point two billion spent on goods and services.
