N/R: Joint Military and Police force to enforce ban on public gatherings as two suspected coronavirus cases test negative

Two suspected cases of COVID-19 at the Tamale Teaching Hospital turned out negative, following tests at the KCC in Kumasi.

There was considerable panic among staff of the Teaching hospital and residents of Tamale, following news of the two suspected cases.

A Senior Specialist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. Michael Damaah in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, disclosed that all medical staff who had come into contact with the suspected cases, were quarantined but have since been released.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Security Council has formed a joint military and police force to monitor and enforce the ban on social and religious gatherings.

REGSEC has also directed the ambulance service to be on standby at all times to attend to any suspected case of the coronavirus.

According to the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, the region is taking the necessary steps to contain any potential outbreak.
