Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has met with the Transport Ministry Leadership to address the pressing issue of long queues at bus stops especially during rush hours.
She emphasized that the passengers will not feel exploited either through fares, queues or lapses in safety protocols as solutions are currently being sought to curb the situation.
Addressing the transport ministry leadership today, Friday, January 16, 2026, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured that, government is aware of the situation and is working to find solutions, urging passengers to be patient.
“We are not complaining, we only ask for patience as we find solutions to the long queues situation at bus stops,” she said.
The Vice President also pledged that, government would continue to support efforts to improve passenger and driver welfare, highlighting plans to modernize and transform transport services, promoting accessibility, affordability, and security for the motoring public.
The Vice President’s engagement with the Transport Ministry comes amid worsening public transport challenges in Accra, with commuters facing acute shortages of commercial vehicles, long waiting times, and rising transport fares.
