The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has announced that ticket sales for Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Comoros will close at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025. This decision aims to address crowd control issues witnessed during Ghana’s previous home game against Mali in September.
Addressing the media on Thursday, October 9, 2025 Ampofo Ankrah explained that no tickets would be sold after 3:00 PM on match day despite the game starting at 7:00 PM. He said this policy was introduced to avoid the problems caused by large crowds gathering around the stadium attempting to buy tickets just before kickoff.
“Worth noting that on match day, tickets will not be sold after 3 pm. The match is at 7 pm, and the reason for this is that we don’t want the challenges we had the last time, where fans were crowding around the stadium looking to purchase tickets,” Ampofo Ankrah said.
The NSA believes that closing ticket sales early will improve the match-day experience by promoting better crowd control and enhancing security for fans at the Accra Sports Stadium. The Authority remains committed to ensuring a safe, orderly, and enjoyable environment for all attendees.”
The Black Stars, need only a draw to secure their place at the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will face Comoros in this crucial fixture, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets before the Sunday deadline.
