The directorate says the virus is spreading at an alarming rate in the Tamale metropolis and Sagnarigu Municipality.

The Northern Regional Director of Health, Dr  John Eleeza, who sounded the warning in an interview with GBC News in Tamale, disclosed that, community infections now account for eighty six percent of infections in the region.

“When you go to town now, you will find people walking without the face mask. The sit in twos and threes on motorbikes, in most cases, not a single one of them wears the nose mask. This should be a matter of concern to all,” he lamented.

Since the easing of restrictions couple of weeks ago, residents in the Tamale and Sagnarigu Municipality, have been organising weddings and other social activities with large populations in attendance.

Most of these residents do not comply with the covid-19 protocols, raising fears that the pandemic could spiral out of control
