Over 40 women trained in soap making in Teshie

Forty-five unemployed women in Teshie have been trained in soap making and other skills to empower them.

The beneficiaries received start up kits and capital under the sponsorship of the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo’s ‘Because I want to be initiative”.

Speaking at a passing out ceremony in Accra, the First Lady asked the beneficiaries not to sit idle and complain about poor economic conditions, but rather use the skills acquired to make some income.

The training in partnership with the National Board for Small Scale Industries, NBSSI, also included the preparation of other detergents, bar soaps, hair creams among others.

Beneficiaries will also enjoy refresher courses to ensure that they are abreast of modern ways of soap making.

The First Lady who was delighted to have supported them to acquire the skills asked them to put them to use.

Executive Director of the National Board for Small Scall Industries Kosi Yankey-Ayeh said apart from this project, the NBSSI has been able to secure about 45 million in the last three years to train more than 80 thousand people.
