The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has delivered a stark assessment of the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama, giving it a score of 4 out of 10.

Speaking in an interview with GTV, Mr Annoh-Dompreh centered his critique on the government’s inability to effectively tackle illegal mining, which continues to ravage the environment.

I never thought President Mahama would win – Frank Annoh-Dompreh

“Yes, an honest assessment. I’ll give them 4 out of 10, It’s not reset, it’s re-write. They have to re-write. Because, for instance, it’s on the matter of the Galamsey. I think they failed and they are failing”; Annoh-Dompreh said.

He further criticized the government’s silence on the use of emergency powers under Article 31 of the Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, which had been promised as a tool to curb galamsey. “They have said they were going to categorise the miners for easy monitoring and implementation of the template, but now they’ve gone mute about that”; He mentioned.

Highlighting budgetary failures, the MP revealed that during the budget passing, “there was no budget line dedicated for land reclamation, reclamation of water bodies, and the fight against Galamsey. The gold board bill was being passed at the second stage. I looked at the report. Not even a single dime was devoted for the fight against Galamsey. And for me, that is a travesty of justice”;  He affirmed.

His comments come amid broader concerns about the government’s fiscal management and accountability. Annoh-Dompreh has previously criticized the administration for failing to pay statutory funds despite increased tax collections, describing the situation as “very unfortunate” and warning it undermines services for vulnerable groups.
