The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations of inducement and vote buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, 7 February 2026.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat, the NDC said the decision follows concerns over reports of widespread inducement during the internal election.
The committee will be chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi, with Mahama Ayariga and Emefa Fugah, a lawyer, serving as members. The party said the committee has been mandated to conduct a thorough investigation and submit its report by Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
According to the statement, the committee’s work will go beyond fact-finding to include recommendations, including possible sanctions where necessary. It will also propose long-term measures and reforms aimed at eliminating inducement and vote buying in the party’s internal electoral processes.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency and ethical political conduct, noting that the move reflects its resolve to uphold integrity within its structures.
The party further assured members, stakeholders and the general public of its dedication to maintaining high standards in its internal elections and urged supporters to remain calm as the committee carries out its work.
